Hannah Ellis Releases New Single "Waiting To Die" Featuring Husband Nick Wayne
Hannah Ellis, a rising star in the country music scene, has unveiled her latest single, "Waiting To Die", a powerful duet featuring her husband, Nick Wayne. Released on February 7, 2025, the track masterfully captures the essence of enduring love and lifelong commitment, painting a vivid portrait of growing old together. This romantic ballad marks the first time Ellis and Wayne have released an original song together, serving as a poignant follow-up to their 2019 cover of "If the World Was Ending".
The song, co-written by Ellis, Wayne, and Eric Arjes, with production by Jason Massey, draws inspiration from iconic country music couples, notably Johnny and June Carter Cash. It reflects on the profound notion that life would be hardly worth living without one's partner, echoing the sentiment of "til death do us part".
Ellis, a native of Campbellsville, Kentucky, has been making waves in the country music industry since her appearance on season 8 of NBC's The Voice in 2015. While she didn't secure a spot on the show, her performance caught the attention of Curb Records, leading to a publishing deal and subsequently, a recording contract.
Her journey in music began much earlier, growing up in a musical family where both her parents were wedding singers. This early exposure to music cultivated her passion, leading her to participate in talent contests as a teenager. By the time she graduated high school, Ellis was certain that a career in music was her calling.
Ellis' debut full-length album, "That Girl", was released on January 12, 2024, featuring 13 tracks, all co-written by Ellis herself. The album showcases her growth as an artist, embracing her small-town roots, real-life romance, and newfound artistic voice. Prior to this, Ellis had released a self-titled EP in 2017 and several singles, including "Country Can" and "Wine Country", which charted on the Billboard Country Airplay chart.
Throughout her career, Ellis has collaborated with and written songs for various artists across multiple genres. Her work has been featured on recordings by Russell Dickerson, Carly Pearce, FOR KING + COUNTRY, and others, accumulating over 55 million career streams. She has also toured with notable artists such as Carly Pearce, Billy Currington, and Dwight Yoakam.
"Waiting To Die" follows several new releases from Ellis, including "'90s Country" "Once" and "Plans" (a dual single including both original and acoustic versions of the song), offering fans a taste of her evolving artistry. As she continues to build her catalog, Ellis is cementing her place as a shrewd storyteller and emotive vocalist in the country music landscape.
